COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Quitman County Sheriff's deputies are on the scene of an accident involving a dump truck.

It happened this afternoon in the southern part of the county, about a mile before the Clay County line off Highway 39 South.

Authorities say the driver was dumping a load of fertilizer in a field when the truck flipped over, ejecting him and pinning him underneath it.

According to police, he had the entire weight of the truck on top of him for close to two hours before emergency crews could get him out.

The driver was airlifted to the Columbus Regional Medical Center and responders at the scene tell News Leader 9 it appears both of his legs were broken in the accident.
