COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Vandals left a mess at a Columbus elementary school.

Police say someone broke into St. Mary's Magnet Academy around 7:30 p.m. Monday night, and left extensive damage behind.

It's not known if anything was stolen at this time.

We're told the administrative offices and the cafeteria were hit hard -- things were tossed around, a chair was thrown through a window in the cafeteria, doors were kicked in, and windows were broken.

Crews are working to repair the windows and retrieve broken glass.
