COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – News Leader 9 has learned the results of a hearing in Columbus' bankruptcy court. It appears the ball will land in Rob Doll's court.
Thursday morning, Jay Auto Group entered a $8.45 million bid for Rob Doll's dealership, but the following condition will have to be met: Nissan North America will have to approve Jay Auto Group as the owner -- granting it the right to sell Nissan cars and to own the incomplete dealership on Whittlesey Boulevard.
However, if Nissan North America exercises its first right to own the Whittlesey Boulevard location and its assets within the next 30 days, Jay Auto Group will not be able to own Doll's assets.
Two other motions were heard Thursday. Nissan Acceptance asked for permission to foreclose on the property. The motion has been postponed until March, but if the deal is approved the motion will be null and void.
Fife Whiteside, Doll's attorney, hopes the deal will be finalized within the next 45 days.
In the meantime, Doll & Doll has requested a loan from Nissan North America. Doll & Doll says the loan will help the company buy and resale cars until the Jay deal is finalized.
