Troup County, GA (WTVM) - A Meriwether County man will spend the next 17 days in jail.
Randall Wright is being held in the Troup County jail. He is charged with rape and was denied bond Monday morning. At his first appearance hearing a judge denied bond. Sergeant Chad Mann of the Troup County Sheriff Department says no bond could be set due to the maximum punishment of a rape conviction, "Because of the seriousness of the charge the magistrate judge did not set bond today. The seriousness of the charge of rape can include as a penalty or punishment, death."
Wright is an EMS in Meriwether County. He was arrested Friday night.
Right now the only information released by police is that the incident happened somewhere in north east Troup County at a residence.
Wright's probable cause hearing is set for February 18th. At that hearing Wrights bond will be re-addressed.
