Eufaula Murder Investigation


On Tuesday February 2, 2010 Eufaula Police responded to South Randolph Avenue in Eufaula and found that Mecca Henderson, a twenty five year old female had been shot and was deceased. Upon further investigation evidence indicated that the incident was domestic related and Jasper Lavar Toney a twenty seven year old male was the suspect. Reports are that the two have in the past lived together and domestic violence issues have occurred.

Officers began looking for Toney. His vehicle was located at his work place on the Gammage Road outside of the city limits of Eufaula by Barbour county Sheriff Deputies and Eufaula Police Officers. Toney was not in the vehicle. The vehicle was secured and the Alabama Department of Corrections tracking unit was called and they responded. The tracking unit took officers to a near by creek where Toney was found deceased in the water. The ABI responded to the Gammage Road and worked the scene. Barbour County Sheriffs Department, Barbour County District Attorneys Office, Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Eufaula Police Department are conducting the investigation.
