COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The 926th Medical Attachment at Fort Benning is approaching its third deployment since 2003. Commander, Major Sidney Cobb, Junior says they've been preparing strategically for the past 6 months for Iraq.
"We've been training for rollers with humvees, we've focused on preventive measures and taken tests to make sure we're prepared," says Cobb.
Lt. Col. Robert Mon told the soldiers to keep safety at the forefront of their minds.
But, the pep talks don't seem to make it any easier for the families who are left behind. Sandra McNabb has attended deployment ceremonies at least 4 times to bid her husband farewell.
"It's sad, my daughter asks me constantly, when is daddy coming home, we have the internet, email and phones, but there's nothing else I can do. It never gets easier," says McNabb.
Her husband adds, "It's always sad, you hate leaving your family behind."
As the soldiers say good bye to their fellow soldiers, it will still be several weeks before they leave the US. They're expected to deploy to Iraq, later this month.
