COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Auburn University is considering cutting the cost of naming rights to some of their new buildings.

Development Vice President, Jeff McNeill, claims with the recent economy it is forcing the University to consider cutting the cost as much as 75 percent.

He also reveals new residence halls cost the school 8 to 9 million dollars for construction. The cost of putting a name on a building typically goes for half of the construction price.

School officials see the economic dilemma and are contemplating offering names on new student dorms for $1 million and a new dining hall for $3 million.
