COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Muscogee County parents and students wanting to transfer to a better performing high school voiced their concerns during the last of a series of town hall meetings Tuesday night.

As part of the "No Child Left Behind Act" students enrolled in what's deemed a "needs improvement school" can transfer to one that's making adequate yearly progress.

Because of limited space, 9th and 10th grade students who choose to transfer to either Hardaway or Northside will be annexed to Kendrick or Jordan.

"The students that are assigned to the annex site will be taught by certified Muscogee County School teachers under the supervision of the receiving schools which will be Hardaway and Northside," said Keith Seifert, Secondary Education Director.

Ninth and 10 grade students who transfer to Hardaway would be annexed to Jordan, while 9th and 10 grade students transferring to Northside would be annexed to Kendrick.

Transfer students in the 11th and 12th grade will take classes on the campuses of Hardaway and Northside.
