Phenix City, AL (WTVM) - Phenix City Police still don't know who shot who in Tuesday's double murder.
The stories police are getting about 34-year-old Shedrick Dixon and 37-year-old Keith Weeks deaths aren't matching up.
"Very vague, very vague, the info we're getting from witnesses is sometimes contradicting each other," says Captain Frank Ivey, Phenix City Police.
Six witnesses have been interviewed. Some of them tell police they witnessed the shooting and the other witnesses weren't even there.
Capt. Ivey says when something like this happens in a small town, rumors start to fly, "I would say we've heard a lot of rumors about what was the nature of what led to this event, but right now we haven't been able to pinpoint exactly what was their primary cause for this event."
And, police are looking at the possibility that someone walked away from the shooting.
"We are under the belief that there's possibly a third individual that was involved in the shooting at this time, although the information is very sketchy as far as who or what his relationship to this situation," says Ivey.
When asked if any arrested were expected to be made today, Ivey paused and said, "I don't, at this present time, no, but then again I'm always hopeful that we do bring this case to a close as fast as possible."
The preliminary autopsy results are expected to be back by the end of this week.
Police are looking for a car that witnesses claim was at the scene. It is described as a late model Chevrolet, dark in color, with large chrome wheels.
