COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  A local cab driver is out of the hospital after Columbus police say he was shot in the head by a customer.

Sixty-year-old Johnny Turner, who drives for City Cab in Phenix City, says a female customer fired at him inside his cab back on January 21st, hitting him twice in the back of the head.

The incident happened near Pierpont Avenue and 31st Street in Columbus, near Jordan High School, around 6 AM.

Turner tells police he doesn't remember whether or not the woman was trying to rob him at the time of the shooting.

He describes the woman as a "chunky" black female between the age of 20 and 30.

According to police reports, Turner drove himself to the Doctor's Hospital Emergency Room after the assault.

The case is still under investigation.
