RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -  A Phenix City couple is facing charges after authorities say they found a meth lab in their home.

Only our cameras were rolling as narcotics agents revealed the remnants of a lab found in a house on Whiterock Drive, not far off Highway 80.

Members of the Russell County "PAIN" Drug Task Force say they went there Wednesday afternoon to arrest the resident on drug charges and ended up finding the dangerous drug out in the open and more inside the trailer.

"We found a quantity of finished product inside the residence. We also found numerous weapons and there's also a small child living inside the residence," said Mike Loyless, who heads up the Task Force.

The couple was arrested and besides drug charges, they are also being charged with the Chemical Endangerment of a Child.

DHR was called in as well as a haz-mat crew.

Narcotics agents say it appears the couple have been making the drug for quite some time and burning the evidence.
