City to break ground on new ice rink

COLUMBUS, GA - The city of Columbus will break ground on a new ice rink Monday, February 22nd at 5 p.m.   The ceremony will take place at the site of the new facility, which will be located next to Columbus Civic Center. 

The rink has been designed to provide a sheet of ice year round for ice related activities, such as adult/youth hockey, figure skating and small functions such as meetings, proms and related events.

Plus, it will serve as permanent housing for the Columbus Cottonmouths hockey team.

The $5.9 million, 35,680 sqare-foot facility is projected to take 10 months to complete.
