Wanted suspect captured, 1 still on the loose

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Monday, Columbus Police arrested 20-year-old Megail Thirkield at an apartment complex on Cussetta Road after receiving an anonymous phone tip.

Thirkield was arrested on outstanding warrants for armed robber and aggravated assault.  He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on February 24th at 2:00 p.m.

These warrants stem from a shooting and armed robbery which occured on Sheridan Avenue on February 11th.

But authorities still need your help locating another suspect -- 22-year-old Daniel Pitts. He is  wanted for three counts of aggravated assault, armed robbery, and hijacking a vehicle. Pitts is described as 5'7" 120 to 135 lbs and his hair possibly has twists. He is known to be armed with a handgun.

Both men were usually together and frequent the Benning Road and Wade Street area in Columbus. They also have been seen in the area of Cusseta Road near Ft. Benning Road.

Pitts is considered armed and dangerous.

He was last seen in a gray suburban with dark tinted windows and possibly have also been driving a dark colored Honda Accord or Civic.
