FORT BENNING, GA – Medal of Honor recipient Paul Bucha will be the guest speaker at the graduation of the Maneuver Captains Career Course Feb. 26 at 9:30 a.m. at the National Infantry Museum in the grand hall.
Bucha was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions during a reconnaissance-in-force mission against enemy forces near Phuoc Vinh in Binh Duong Province during the Viet Nam War. Bucha placed himself in harm's way to destroy an enemy bunker, among other heroic acts.
After leaving the Army, Bucha was chief of operations in Iran in 1979 for Ross Perot's company, Electronic Data Systems, when several EDS employees were detained during the Iranian Revolution. Bucha was involved in freeing the detainees. He later founded his own company which identified American partners for foreign investors and was involved real estate development. He was also chairman of the board of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation and was president of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.
