COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Columbus Police are searching for a local man who they say attacked his girlfriend with a butcher knife and backed into her with his car.

It happened early Sunday morning at an apartment complex on Armour Road.

The victim, 26-year-old Jessica Taylor, tells police she and her boyfriend, 36-year-old Charles Brown, came home from a party and began arguing.

She says things turned physical and during the fight, she says Brown put a butcher knife to her throat, leaving a two inch cut under her chin.

When he went to leave, she called police and went outside to stop him until the cops could get there. That's when she says he struck her with his car and took off.

Taylor refused medical treatment.

Brown faces charges of aggravated assault and criminal damage to property.
