COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  A Columbus teen is behind bars, charged in connection with an attempted robbery and aggravated assault.

Eighteen-year-old Jaquan Vanburen was arrested after police say he tried to rob another man, 26-year-old Christopher Carpenter, at gunpoint inside Carpenter's East Columbus home on Amber Drive around 8:00 p.m. Thursday.

Reports indicate Carpenter, a student at Columbus Technical College, was pistol-whipped in the head during the incident.

He tells police two black men in their 20s tried to rob him but Vanburen was the only suspect arrested, according to police documents.
