COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Police are investigating armed robbery and aggravated assault at a Columbus soccer complex.

The victim, 17-year-old Louis Ortega, tells officers that he and two friends were at the soccer fields at Woodruff Farm Road Sunday night around 10 PM when they were approached by a group of seven men who were acting like they wanted to fight.

Ortega, a senior at Shaw High School, says his friends were held back and the rest of the group jumped on him, hitting him repeatedly in the head with their fists and a wooden club or bat.

According to police reports, the suspects stole Ortega's car keys, sunglasses, leather jacket and wallet, containing $20, before running away towards the Bull Creek Apartments.

Ortega was taken to the Medical Center for treatment.
