COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Appliances may be to blame for the fatal home daycare fire that occurred on Mill Branch Road in Columbus – almost two weeks ago.

Fire chief, Thomas Streeter, says the washer, dryer and hot water heater from the Jefferson family daycare have been sent off to a consumer product lab to be tested.

Fire officials believe the blaze started in the laundry room area of the garage.

Streeter says he is unsure when the results will be back.

A 23-month old boy was killed in the fire.
