Two Fort Benning soldiers killed in Iraq

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Department of Defense tells News Leader 9 two Fort Benning soldiers died supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. Aaron M. Arthur, 25, of Lake City, S.C. and Spc. Lakeshia M. Bailey, 23, of Columbus, GA  died March 8th north of Al Kut, Iraq, of injuries sustained during a vehicle roll-over.

We're told they were assigned to the 203rd Brigade Support Battalion, attached to the 1st Battalion, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, GA.

Spc. Bailey was a transport operator. She joined the Army in February 0f 2006 and had received several medals including: Army Achievement Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Army Good Conduct Medal. 

Army officials tell News Leader 9 Spc. Bailey's parents live in Fort Mitchell, AL.

Sgt. Arthur joined the Army in November of 2003 and was also a transport operator. He had received several medals including: Global War on Terrorism Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal and Army Good Conduct Medal.
