TALBOT COUNTY, GA (WTVM) -  The man involved in a recent standoff with police in Box Springs is now behind bars, charged in a separate case.

Forty-nine-year-old Gene Griffin, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Police say he chased his neighbors into Columbus, trying to run them off the road with his car and pointing a gun at them.

Two weeks ago, Griffin barricaded himself inside his Lake Talbot home for several hours, armed with a shotgun and pistol.

Forty officers responded to the scene, including a S.W.A.T. team and armored trucks from the Georgia State Patrol.

Authorities say the man kicked his children out of the house and threatened them the night before and when police went to the home on February 24th, Griffin would not come out.

Eventually, officers got him in custody and police said he was taken to the hospital for mental evaluation.

Griffin is being held without bond in the Talbot County Jail.
