COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Muscogee County Coroner releases the name of the victim who died in a motorized scooter accident Thursday.

Bill Thrower says Willie France, 60, was pronounced dead at 12:51 Friday morning. France's son, Zachery Bruner, 15, says his father died at The Medical Center. Bruner adds that he,  his aunt and grandmother took care of France who reportedly had a history of heart attack and stroke.

The family says France was on his death bed while lying on the sidewalk when the car came out of no where and hit him. It happened at the intersection of Hamilton Road and 25th Street.

The driver is undergoing tests at the Medical Center.  Police are investigating whether pre-existing medical problems occurred at the time of the impact. No charges have been filed.
