COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – According to officials, 43-year-old John Przenkop, the Columbus man at the center of a sex scandal involving local teenage girls, went to police with the case first.

He reported to the Police Department's Financial Crimes Unit that he was being extorted by two women. But as the case unfolded, Przenkop became the suspect.

Police say he lured the 14 and 15-year-old girls to his South Columbus home in February using MySpace and paid them each several hundred dollars for him to perform sex acts on them.

Members of the Special Operations Unit say they also found a hidden camera in his bedroom closet and recordings of the alleged encounters.

According to officers, the victims listed their ages as 18 and 100 on their MySpace pages.

"His big mistake obviously was relying on the stated age that the girls were giving him which they don't deny. They didn't deny it in court today," said Przenkop's attorney, Frank Martin.

Their mothers, however, deny trying to extort Przenkop for several thousand dollars in exchange for not going to police once they found out about the reported crimes.

But in court they also told the judge, they said they would take the money and then call police.

Officers say the women never filed a report.

"It was straight up prostitution- sex for money. The mothers are just unbelievable. To stand up there and testify like they did today is just amazing. To me, it's very easy to understand why they're being charged with prostituting their daughters. It's pathetic," Martin said.

Recorder's Court Judge Michael Joyner found probable cause on all the charges in these cases and bound them over to Muscogee County Superior Court.

Bonds for the victims' mothers were set at $10,000 on their extortion charges. We are not revealing their identities due to the involvement of minors in the case.

Their daughters face prostitution charges.

The cases are being handled in Juvenile Court.

Bond on Przenkop's aggravated child molestation charges has to be set by a Superior Court Judge.

Frank Martin says a date for that has not yet been set.

In the meantime, he is being held in the Muscogee County Jail.
