Sex Case Takes Major Turn; Victim's Mothers Charged with Extortion

COLUMBUS, GA (WXTX) -  A Columbus man is behind bars after police say he paid two young girls for sex using popular online social networking site.

But now, the mothers of the teenage victims are also facing charges after officers say they tried to extort money from the suspect.

A 35-year-old woman and 33-year-old woman both from Phenix City have been charged with one count of theft by extortion in connection with the case.

To protect the minors involved, we are not revealing their mothers' identities.

Police say it is not clear at this point if the women know each other and were working together.

The man at the center of the alleged scandal- 43-year-old John Przenkop faces- a list of charges including aggravated child molestation, pandering and child pornography.

Police say Przenkop used an online social web site to find the two teenage girls.

According to officers, he took the teens to his home and paid them so he could perform sex acts on them.

He was scheduled to appear in Columbus Recorder's Court Monday morning but the proceedings have been moved to Tuesday as Przenkop lines up his defense.

Przenkop has hired well-known Columbus defense attorney Frank Martin to represent him.

He is being held in the Muscogee County Jail.

Both he and the victims' mothers are scheduled to appear in Recorder's Court Tuesday morning.
