COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – An arson suspect appeared in Recorder's Court Wednesday morning. A day after Columbus Police announced his arrest in connection with the River Road Pharmacy fire.
Twenty-seven-year-old Bobby Jo Burkett, pled not guilty to his charges and the case has been bound over to Muscogee County Superior court.
The judge issued a 50,000 on the arson charge, $10,000 bond on the conspiracy to commit arson charge, and $5,000 on criminal damage to property -- totaling $65,000.
Without a court appearance, the same judge issued bonds for his mother, 49-year-old Lillian Burkett: $25,000 on arson, $10,000 for conspiracy to commit arson, and $5,000 on criminal damage to property (totaling $40,000).
Mother and son's bonds add up to be $105,000.
Columbus fire investigators are still looking for 29-year-old Michael Lowery.
The fire destroyed the Columbus landmark back in September and it was first ruled electrical.
