Fatal accident in Phenix City

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry tells News Leader Nine that one woman is dead after an automobile accident at U.S. 280 and U.S. 80 in Phenix City.

The accident occurred around 6:30 Thursday evening.

The coroner says the victim is 47-year-old April O'Dwyer of Spanaway, Washington. She was the passenger in 2006 Ford Mustang GT. We're told the driver survived the crash.

O'Dwyer's body is being sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.

Phenix City Police are investigating the accident.
