ELLERSLIE, GA (WTVM) - A Harris County man is recovering after being stabbed in the back.
His nephew is now facing charges in the incident that authorities say was fueled by alcohol.
Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley says the two men, nephew and uncle, had been drinking in Columbus late Thursday night.
When they got back to their Ellerslie home early Friday morning, the sheriff says a disagreement between the two got out of hand.
It happened at the home where both men live on Douglas drive in the Green Acres subdivision, not far off Highway 85.
Sheriff Jolley says 23-year-old Taylor Black stabbed his 39-year-old uncle, Christopher Black, in the back during the argument.
"After they partied pretty much all evening, they returned home to Ellerslie and got into a verbal disagreement. We don't know what the disagreement was about because we're still investigating it. However, Taylor Black somehow went to the kitchen, picked up a kitchen knife and went back outside and stabbed Christopher Black, his uncle, in the back of his shoulder," Sheriff Jolley explained.
Christopher Black was taken to Saint Francis Hospital where he was treated and released.
The sheriff says Taylor Black also sliced his own hand with the knife. He was treated at the scene.
Taylor Black is being charged with aggravated assault.
He was arrested Friday and is in the Harris County Jail.
The sheriff says he will make his first appearance before a judge in the next 24 hours. After that, his case will be referred to the District Attorney's Office.
