TALBOT COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - Georgia State Troopers are still investigating a head-on collision.

The accident took place Friday afternoon around 4:30 in Talbot County, GA near the intersection of Highways 41 and 85.

A 2001 Pontiac Bonneville driven by 22-year-old Yolanda Mercado of Green Acres, FL was traveling north on Highway 41 when the car crossed the center line.

The Pontiac collided headlight to headlight with a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by 45-year-old Pamela Ward of Warm Springs, GA.

We're told she was fleeing from Woodland Police.

The Pontiac caught fire and Mercado was trapped inside. She died on the scene.

A second passenger, 25-year-old Herode Pierre of West Palm Beach, FL was not injured.

However, a third male suspect fled the scene and has not been found by police.

Ward was extracted from her Hyundai with the Jaws of Life and airlifted to the Medical Center for treatment.
