AUBURN, AL- The Lee County Humane Society will begin accepting entries for the 2011 Best Friends Calendar contest on April 1. The Best Friends Calendar is a celebration of Lee County pets and helps raise money for the animals at the shelter. The 2010 calendar raised more than $8,500 for the animals at the shelter.
Photo entries will be accepted April 1 until May 28. Each entry costs $10 per photo or a special offer of $20 per photo plus 15 votes in the contest. Photo submissions for the contest should be a 4x6 photograph or high resolution digital format submission by email. Applications for the contest are available at the shelter or online at www.leecountyhumane.org.
Voting for the contest will begin June 21 at the shelter (and online) and end September 11 at the shelter's Woofstock celebration. Each vote costs $1.00, and there is no limit to the number of votes that may be submitted per photograph. All donations to the Lee County Humane Society are tax-deductible.
The photo receiving the highest number of votes will be featured as the "Cover Pet." The 10 pets receiving next highest number of votes will be featured as a "Pet of the Month." A local artist will be selecting the most aesthetically pleasing photograph to be featured on a month as "Best in Show."
All proceeds from the 2011 Best Friends Calendar will benefit the shelter's animal welfare fund which aides in the purchase of medical tests, vaccinations, enrichment needs and preventative treatments for the more than 6,000 animals that visit LCHS each year.
