Military Appreciation Day

Press Release:

COLUMBUS, GA – Phenix City Auburn Club & PAWS Humane of Columbus sponsor Military Appreciation Day with "Two PAWS, One Cause".

The Columbus Phenix City Auburn Club has teamed up with PAWS Humane in Columbus to host the first "Two Paws, One Cause" event on Saturday, May 1, 2010 from  11am – 3pm with free hot dogs and drinks being served at the PAWS Humane shelter at 4900 Milgen Road, next to Cooper Creek Park.   There will be face painting and possibly a special visit from Auburn University Mascot, Aubie.  A live remote with Brian Waters from 103.7 will also be available.

Military families are invited to adopt a homeless shelter pet from PAWS Humane with Columbus Phenix City Auburn Club paying half of the adoption fee. Every PAWS companion animal has already been spayed or neutered, has been tested for heartworms/blood diseases, is up-to-date on age appropriate vaccines, dewormed, and microchipped. There is no additional cost involved. Military I.D. must be presented for adoption, and PAWS will be open regular business hours to the public.  All Columbus Phenix City Auburn Club members that volunteer that day will receive 10% off an adoption of a shelter pet.

The Columbus Phenix City Auburn Club community service projects include Gameday For Heroes ( and have sparked a genuine support of our military. "By working with PAWS Humane, we hope to show the military how much we appreciate all they do by helping them find a pet that suits their lives. A shelter dog or cat can help families ease the deployment of a loved one, whether it's to enrich their daily lives, or to celebrate the return of a family member." says Jana Tarleton, President of the Columbus Phenix City Auburn Club. "We hope to make a difference to military families, by helping them make a difference to a homeless shelter pet."
