TROUP COUNTY, GA (WTVM) – The Troup County Sheriff's Office needs the public's help locating a missing mother.

Officials say, Melissa Helms,  left with her 9-year-old daughter Thursday afternoon after a school bus dropped the child off at her grandmother's home.

The vehicle they were last seen in was stopped by LaGrange Police at approximately 2:00 a.m. But the mom and child was not in the car, instead were five black men.

Police say all of the men were arrested for drug activity and the car was towed.

Officials have been able to find the 9-year-old girl, but her mother is no where to be found.

We're told the child's grandmother had been given custody of Breann in 2002.

Officials add the mother is currently on felony probation. She is described as around 5'2, weighing about 162 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Troup County investigators say if you see Helms, please call the Troup County Crime Stoppers Hotline at (706)812-1000 or call 911.
