A little mud on the tires

PHENIX CITY, AL(WTVM) - New trails, a bigger mud bog pit, and soon-to-be cabins are all welcome improvements at the new Mudders Mag Off-Road Park in Phenix City, AL.  This weekend is the park's Grand Opening.

The new owner, Kevin Palmer, was a kid when he first came to the park. He said, "I wanted to see the park grow and be professional.  I knew that it had to be opportunities and local support. Just the fact that its mine now is really like a dream come true."

Palmer is encouraging families to come get dirty.  For the first time the park will have security.

The Sellers Family drove from South Carolina to be here for the opening weekend.  Jessica Sellers said, "We came all the way down here because there is a lot of kids and women that get involved and a lot of families."

It seemed everyone involved in the sport is like family.

Palmer described, "You have got a lot of people that really look out for you in the ATV industry and ATV riders. The best way to describe it is they are like a big family.  They do not leave a guy stranded on the trail."

Matt McManus works for an ATV manufacturer, Can-am.  He has ridden a lot of parks and said this one is at the top of the list.  "They have a variety of activities from mud bog to free trail rides to just a complete different array of environments to ride in."

And, the riders vary as much as the terrain.  5 year old Graham Seegar was riding wheelies on his ATV, he said, "I like riding mud puddles."

Can-am is at the park all weekend for the grand opening.  They offer test rides and give advice to new riders.  Click here to learn more about them.
