Opelika's first murder of the year

OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) - Opelika Police have made their first murder arrest of 2010.

At 11:45 a.m. on Monday  the Opelika Police Department responded to the 200th block of Chester Avenue.

Police found 21-year-old Montavious Moore suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Moore was transported to the East Alabama Medical Center for treatment.

At approximately 12:52 p.m. Moore was pronounced dead. Demetrius Short turned himself in to Opelika police at 12:35 p.m. and was officially charged with murder at 2:05 p.m.
