April is STD Awareness Month

COLUMBUS, GA - April is STD Awareness Month, an annual observance to raise awareness about the impact of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) on the health of Americans and the importance of individuals discussing sexual health with their healthcare providers and, if sexually active, their partners.

The Columbus Department of Public Health is taking part in this observance by offering FREE HIV and Syphilis testing to the community on the following dates and locations.

FREE HIV testing will be offered at Columbus State University (Student Health Services) on April 7, 2010 from 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  For more information about this event, please contact Olisa Woods-Pierce at 706-321-6426.

FREE HIV/Syphilis testing will be offered at Wilson Apartments (3400 5th Avenue, Columbus, GA) on April 15th, 2010 from 1:00 p.m.– 4:00 p.m.  For more information about this event, please contact Seletia Green at 706-321-6413.
