LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) - A LaGrange man is out of the hospital after police say he was shot in the chest during an attempted robbery.
62-year-old Harold Davenport tells police he was walking home from Daniel Foodmart Saturday when he was approached by an unknown black man who demanded money.
When Davenport told the man he didn't have any money, the suspect shot him in the chest at the intersection of Burr and Snelson Street and ran away.
WTVM spoke with Mister Davenport at his home Monday.
He declined an on camera interview but tells News Leader 9 he is lucky to be alive.
Investigators say the bullet hit him at an angle that kept his injuries from being more severe.
Davenport says he didn't get a good look at the shooter and so far, an arrest has not been made.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the LaGrange Police Department at 706-883-2603 or Troup County Crimestoppers at 706-812-1000.
