COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus Police responded to an accident around midnight Wednesday near Columbus Park Crossing on Whittlesey Boulevard.

Lieutenant Ronnie Hastings says a truck and a car collided in front of Cheddar's restaurant.  An infant was pinned inside one of the vehicles for a short time, according to officers.

The driver who reportedly caused the accident fled the scene but was later apprehended.  He is being held in the Muscogee County Jail on DUI charges.

No one was hurt in the accident.  Police also say the baby was properly strapped in an infant seat. No names have been released.
