MONTGOMERY— Alabama residents who lost or did not receive a 2010 Census questionnaire should call a toll-free number offered by the U.S. Census Bureau.
Beginning Monday, April 12, residents can call 1-866-872-6868 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. to request a Census form. They can also save time by giving their answers to a Census Bureau representative over the phone.
The Census Bureau will send out forms until April 22, but will continue to take residents' information over the phone after that date.
The Census questionnaire asks 10 simple questions, including a person's name, sex, age, date of birth, race, ownership of the home and relationship to others in the household.
Answering these questions ensures a complete count of the U.S. population, which in turn ensures that communities get the legislative representation and federal grant funding to which they are entitled.
