COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  A Columbus man is in the hospital after what police are calling a brutal cutting.

It happened just before 10 PM Saturday at Spices Nightclub on University Avenue across from the main entrance of Columbus State University.

According to investigators, an argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend turned dangerous when the man was sliced with broken glass.

Police say he lost a lot of blood at the scene and officers reported he was cut to the bone.

Officials in the Columbus Police Department's Robbery and Assault Division tell WTVM the girlfriend ran away but was caught in a house on Irwin Way off Saint Mary's Road.

She is in custody tonight facing charges and the incident is still under investigation
