COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The merits of regular physical activity are hard to ignore. According to the Mayo Clinic, exercise prevents chronic health conditions, promotes weight loss and better sleep. For 20 years, Carolyn Hunter, fitness instructor, has focused on the 'whole body workout' when showing others proper exercising techniques.
Hunter, a California native, moved to Columbus with her military husband. She says the recession inspired her to offer IMPACT FITNESS, a free workout class. "I saw the depression people were feeling and also the fact that they couldn't afford a gym membership and I wanted to help." Hunter started the classes in January. Since its inception, she's received rave reviews from participants.
Reverna Fitzpatrick has suffered with high blood pressure for years. She says a recent visit to the doctor revealed a significant drop in her blood pressure. "The doctor told me to keep doing whatever I'm doing."
The classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:00 a.m. A new evening class called, Power Surge will soon start at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.
The free workout is located at 1600 Blanchard Boulevard in Columbus at the Impact Center. For more information, contact Carolyn Hunter at 706-604-8924 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
