Roy Barnes to keynote GSW Commencement May 8

AMERICUS, GA- (April 20, 2010)-­Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) will hold its Spring 2010 Commencement ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8 in Convocation Hall of the GSW Student Success Center. Roy Barnes, former Georgia governor and 2010 gubernatorial candidate, will be the commencement speaker.
        "We are excited about having the former governor on our campus," said GSW President Kendall Blanchard, Ph.D. "His presence and his commencement address will be real treats for everyone in attendance."
        An estimated 250 students are expected to graduate. The University is providing each graduate with seven tickets to disburse among family and friends. Limited overflow seating will be available, as well.
        Charles M. Huffman, Ph.D., GSW associate professor of psychology, will serve as the Macebearer and deliver the reflection. Elizabeth Wilson, Ph.D., professor of management and director of Undergraduate Programs in the School of Business Administration, will be the Grand Marshal.
        A graduation breakfast is planned for 8:15 a.m. in the Marshall Student Center Dining Hall.
