The franchises are located in downtown Columbus off Veterans Parkway - a transaction valued at $2 million.
Jay Automotive currently operates Jay Toyota-Scion, Jay-Buick-GMC, Jay Mazda, Jay Suzuki, and Jaymaxx Super Center located on Whittlesey Road in Columbus GA.
According to Jay Stelzenmuller, Company President, Jay lost its Saturn and Pontiac brands as a result of General Motors reorganization last year, when GM did away with those nameplates. "We were looking to replace the two brands we lost and the Subaru and Volvo brands will do nicely. Subaru is the fastest growing brand in the US right now and they has plans to expand their business by leaps and bounds over the next several years. All Subaru cars pass the 5 star safety crash test and their plant is the highest tech, lowest pollution plant in the US. They are the model for all US industries to follow."
Recently, Jay Automotive Group attempted to purchase a Nissan franchise under construction from Rob Doll.
Nissan's financial arm, NMAC, chose to exercise its right of first refusal – thus, selling the business to Columbus SE, LLC., owned by Shawn Esanfani, a Toyota dealer from South Alabama.
Stelzenmuller said the Subaru-Volvo acquisition is a much better fit for Jay, "No real estate investment was involved and we got two great brands versus one."
