House fire kills Phenix City woman

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - A late night house fire leaves one woman dead, and fire officials searching for answers.

Fire crews responded to a fire around 11:30 p.m. Saturday at a home located at 1812 6th Court in Phenix City.

Crews found 39-year-old Patrissa Lynn Black inside the home, they took her outside where paramedic and firefighters performed CPR. She was pronounced dead around 12:30 a.m. by Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr.

The fire was under control around 12:20 a.m.

Meanwhile, Black's body has been sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy. We're told preliminary results will be available this week. 

The state fire marshal was called over to examine the scene as is customary measure. The incident has been turned over to the Phenix City Police Department.
