COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Columbus man appeared in Muscogee County Superior Court Monday, admitting to a home invasion.

Willie Hicks pled guilty to burglary, armed robbery, obstruction and weapons charges.

Judge Frank Jordan sentenced him to 20 years, 10 of which he will serve in a state penitentiary.

Prosecutors told the judge, Hicks is one of four men who invaded a home on Huffman Drive (between Amber Drive and Floyd Road on the east end of the city) in July of 2009.

The state says the suspects were ransacking the home when police showed up. Hicks was caught when he tried to get away out the front door.

The other three gunmen got away. After he was handcuffed, prosecutors say Hicks tried to run away while restrained—-running several blocks before he was caught again.
