COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) –  Friday evening, the UPtown Business District is kicking off its Miracle Riders UPtown Concert Series with Big Woody and Splinters.

The event starts at 7 p.m. in the 1100 block on  Broadway, between 11th and 12th Streets.

The UPtown Business District has renamed the concert series to honor Scott's Ride for Miracles which benefits the Children's Miracle Network at The Medical Center.

Scott's Ride will leave from The Medical Center next Friday, May 7 at noon and will return during intermission of the final concert of the series on May 28, which features DNR (Do Not Resuscitate), a band comprised of physicians.

During intermission tonight, Country's Barbecue co-owner Scott Ressmeyer will be there to discuss the purpose of the trip, why he's doing it again this year, and to introduce the 10 friends who will join him for the 21-day, cross-country motorcycle ride.

The riders will be decked out in their regalia of dusters and black hats, and there may even be a Harley or two in the vicinity.

Next week, News Leader 9 and crowds will send off Scott and his ten Miracle riders in a special ceremony before they hit the road.
