COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – An old staple is reopening in downtown Columbus – literally returning from ashes.

Ruth Ann's Inc will open to the public Saturday, May 1. We're told free pancakes will be available at all corners from 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

It has been a cornerstone of the community since 1957, but closed in December of 2009 due to an electrical fire.

Ruth Ann's will continue to be opened 7 days a week to serve breakfast and lunch. (Monday – Friday, 6:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.; Saturday, 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

One new change is that it will serve breakfast all day Saturday and Sundays.

There are even new items on the menu, including a new dessert: Coconut custard layer cake.

Ruth Ann's is located at 941 Veterans Parkway.
