COWETA COUNTY, GA. – The Georgia Department of Transportation announces plans to begin resurfacing SR 154 beginning at SR 54 near Sharpsburg, extending to US 29/SR 14.
Crews began work to prepare to resurface SR 154 on yesterday evening, May 2. Work will occur nightly through Friday, May 7 from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., as weather permits. One lane will be closed and delays are expected in the area as work occurs. A pilot car will be utilized to assist motorists traveling through this work zone.
This 7.905 mile resurfacing project is needed because of deterioration of the existing pavement. SR 154 was last resurfaced in 1996. C. W. Matthews Contracting of Marietta is the contractor. The completion date for the project is September 30, 2010; however, most major work is estimated to be completed by the end of June.
