PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Phenix City Council members held their only meeting of the month Tuesday morning, but they aren't getting a break from work.

Council members are heading to the Alabama League of Municipalities State Convention in Mobile later this month. Mayors from all over Alabama attend the five day gathering, which includes conferences, speakers and seminars to discuss running a city.

Phenix City Mayor Sonny Coulter told News Leader Nine, "There are an awful lot of good solutions to problems that come out of these conventions. In addition, you get to renew a lot of old friendships and relationships you have built over the years with people from the state."

The majority of Phenix City Council members are going to the convention with the mayor. They leave May 14th and come back the 19th.
