Columbus teen shot during fight

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus Police are investigating the shooting of a teen on Wade Street. It happened around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. 

Police say they first responded to a call concerning a large group of people fighting.  When they arrived on the scene, Columbus Police tell News Leader 9 that the crowd had dispersed.

Moments later, another call to police in the same area at Wade Apartments. This time the call was upgraded from a fight to a possible shooting.  Captain Renee McAneny says the victim was transported by a private vehicle to the Medical Center before police made it to 3610 Wade Street.

The 16-year-old was shot in the forearm and is expected to make a full recovery.

No word on any suspects. Police are investigating the crime and talking to witnesses -- hoping to find the triggerman.
