COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Those searching for a last minute Mother's Day gift, or just a momento to hold on to, stopped by the Kiddie Shoppe in Columbus Thursday to get a silhouette cut of their children.

Artist Clay Rice travels all over the country cutting shadows of children. He's been practicing the art for 30 years and says he learned to cut freehand from his grandfather, "There's really nothing to it, it's fast. People think they have to sit still but they don't have to. As long as I can see them in profile a couple times, I've got it."

Clay Rice is not only a talented silhouette artist, but he also wrote a Moonbeam winning children's book entitled "The Lonely Shadow" and wrote a song to go along with the story.
