COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A man, Columbus Police say aimed a gun at an officer during a traffic stop, gets five years for the crime.
Thirty-year-old Quincy Thomas pled guilty to felony obstruction of a police officer Tuesday morning before Muscogee County Superior Court Judge Frank Jordan.
Prosecutors say Thomas was the passenger in a car that was pulled over earlier this year and that he pointed a gun at the patrol cop during the routine traffic stop before running away.
Thomas' attorney, Stacey Jackson, says he turned himself into police February 18, 2010.
Judge Jordan sentenced him to five years, two of which he will serve in a state penitentiary and the remainder on probation.
Thomas' probation has been revoked on another charge. Prosecutors told the judge he pled guilty to the sale of cocaine in February of 2007 so his new sentence will run concurrent to that.
