COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Walking in the park takes on a whole new meaning after Tuesday's razor blade scare.

Adventure Boot Camp uses the park for its daily fitness exercises.  Kara Layfield, Owner, says she believes those razors were probably in place when they were conducting classes Tuesday morning.

Ironically, Layfield uses the same playground equipment to do sit ups and pushes, yesterday they decided change up the routine.

"Thank goodness we didn't use them. But, we told the class to be careful and not to get out of their cars alone.   We are also telling them to check the playground equipment before they use it."

Police beefed up their patrols around the park. Several units circled the parameters during the early morning hours.  As the search for the culprit continues, the community is responding with their own safety measures creating a neighborhood watch program.

Owners of the Wildwood Day Spa located across the street from the park are adding more surveillance cameras and motion lights hoping to catch anyone doing something wrong in the park.
